# How the Voting System Works

> Understand how LOREKEEPER's voting system resolves party decisions in multiplayer campaigns.

## Making Decisions as a Group

When your party faces a critical choice, LOREKEEPER uses a voting system to let every player have a say. This keeps the game fair and gives everyone agency in shaping the story.

## When Voting Is Triggered

The AI Dungeon Master triggers a vote when the party encounters a decision that affects the whole group. Examples include choosing which path to take, whether to fight or negotiate, or how to spend shared resources. Not every decision requires a vote -- only significant branching moments.

## How Votes Are Resolved

### Consensus

If all players agree on the same option, the decision is made immediately and the story continues.

### Majority

When players disagree, the option with the most votes wins. The AI DM narrates the outcome based on the majority decision.

### Tie with Timeout

If votes are evenly split, a configurable timeout begins. Players have a window to change their vote or discuss. If the tie persists when the timer expires, the Leader's vote breaks the tie.

<Tip>The Leader role carries extra weight in tied votes. If your group often disagrees, having a trusted Leader helps keep the story moving.</Tip>

## Configurable Timeout

The campaign Leader can adjust the voting timeout duration from the campaign settings. Shorter timeouts keep the pace fast. Longer timeouts give the group more time to deliberate.

## Email Reminders

If a player has not voted and the timeout is approaching, LOREKEEPER sends an email reminder prompting them to cast their vote. This prevents one inactive player from stalling the entire party.

<Note>Email reminders are sent automatically. Players should check their inbox if they step away during an active vote.</Note>
