How Combat Begins
Combat starts when the story demands it. The AI DM rolls initiative for every participant, including enemies and allied NPCs, then announces the turn order. Each round, characters act in initiative sequence.Available Actions
On your turn, you can choose from several actions:- Attack: Strike with your equipped weapon. The DM rolls to hit and calculates damage.
- Cast a spell: Use a spell from your spellbook, spending mana.
- Use an item: Drink a potion, throw a bomb, or activate a magic artifact.
- Defend: Brace yourself, gaining defensive bonuses until your next turn.
- Flee: Attempt to escape combat. Success depends on a skill check.
Damage Types
LOREKEEPER features 8 damage types: slashing, piercing, bludgeoning, fire, cold, lightning, poison, and necrotic. Enemies may resist or be vulnerable to specific types, so choosing the right weapon or spell matters.Status Conditions
The system tracks around 40 status conditions, including poisoned, stunned, blessed, burning, frightened, and many more. Conditions affect combat rolls, movement, and available actions. The DM applies and removes them automatically based on duration and triggers.Defense Summary
After every attack against you, the DM provides a defense summary explaining exactly why damage was reduced. You will see contributions from armor, shields, resistances, and active buffs, so outcomes never feel arbitrary.Loot
When you defeat enemies, the AI generates loot appropriate to the encounter. A bandit might drop a worn dagger and some coins, while a dragon could yield legendary treasure. Loot is genre-aware, matching your world setting.Loot quality scales with encounter difficulty. Tougher fights yield better rewards.
